Town Services

Lutterworth Town Council would like to inform its parishioners about the parish services on offer to them, in addition to advising about the Council's areas of responsibility.

Swiftway Centre - situated on Central Avenue, Lutterworth

Telephone 01455 557271 9am - 1pm Monday - Friday (for general enquiries or room bookings)

The Community Centre is available for private hire and has a lounge, kitchen, activities room, gymnasium, toilets (inclusive of disabled persons facilities), changing rooms and shower facilities.

The Swiftway Centre is also the Town Council office and a number of council meetings are held at the centre. The Council office is open from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Monday to Friday. Alternatively you can contact the Town Council office on 01455 550225.

New Pavilion, Coventry Road Recreation Ground

The Pavilion is available for private hire and has a large activities room, kitchen, toilet, changing room and shower facilities (including facilities for disabled persons).

Booking are taken at the Swiftway Centre on 01455 557271 between the hours of 9am and 1pm Monday to Friday.

Coventry Road Recreation Ground

The recreation ground is held in trust by the Town Council who have provided play equipment for the under 7’s and under 14’s, skateboard equipment, a multi-court and youth shelter.

The recreation grounds are open access to the community of Lutterworth and home to Lutterworth & Junior Football club, who use the grounds every Sunday during the football season.

The Lutterworth Bowling Club has their club facilities on the recreation ground. Bowling is open to members of the public as well as Bowls Club members. Details for hiring are displayed at the bowling green.

Public conveniences are provided at the recreation ground, as well as seats, litter bins and dog bins provided and maintained by the Town Council.

There are strict bylaws for the recreation grounds, which include “dogs must be on leads”. The Town Council, like other parish councils, are extremely concerned about the anti-social “dog owners” who allow their dogs to foul the town’s recreation areas, verges and footpaths.

War Memorial and Gardens, Church Street

The Memorial gardens and Memorial are maintained by the Town Council, and there is a town flag pole, which was kindly donated by Mrs Joan Page in memory of her husband Peter, who was lost in the 2nd World War.

Town Centre Floral Displays

The Town Council annually provide and maintain summer and winter floral displays at the Memorial Gardens, throughout the town and at the entrances to the town.

The Town Council encourage businesses and organisations in the community to enter the annual ‘Lutterworth in Bloom’ competition during the month of July, whereby cash prizes are awarded to the winners of the best floral displays in three categories: Best Private Garden, Best Public House and Best Business / Community Building.

The current title holders for 2006-07 are as follows:

Best Public House - The Red Arrow
Best Business / Community Building - W. F. Chapman

Allotment Gardens

The Town Council lease two allotment sites from the District Council, DeVerdon Road, with 70 Plots and Crescent Road with 10 plots.

All allotment administration is carried out by the Town Council staff who maintain a waiting list. Telephone 01455 557271 for further details.

Crescent Road Recreation Ground

The Crescent Road recreation ground is leased from the District Council. The Town Council have recently provided a new under 7’s play area and teen equipment at this location.

Bus Shelters

The Town Council have provided a number of bus shelters throughout the town and ensure that the shelters are cleaned on a monthly basis, in addition to being inspected and maintained regularly. Three new shelters were provided in 2005.

Litter and Dog Bins

The Town Council have provided and maintain a number of new litter and dog bins throughout the town.
